Time: 14:30 – 15:30
Target group: Grade 6 and 7
Summary: There are currently about 40 learners. The aim is to improve volleyball technique as grade 6's are just starting to learn this sport. Because the team is so big, there are 2 smaller groups that alternate playing times each week.
Thanks to Mr Moser (whose daughter is in grade 7) we now have brand new volleyball equipment.
Each week we work on technique for 30 mins and then we split the team into 2 groups which then play against each other for the remaining time.

Surfing

Coach/Facilitator: Andy Radford (parent)
Day: Friday
Duration:
Target group: Grade 3 to 7
Summary: The Kommetjie Primary Surf Club was started by a couple of parents chatting on the beach and deciding to put their energies behind teaching our children to surf and then supporting them towards a life of surfing, be it free or contest based. The initial response to the initiative which is open to children who are proven swimmers in Grades 3 to 7 was overwhelming. We have 42 surfers signed up with the more advanced waiting until the others are up and riding before participating.

WPSurfing have supported the initiave and are allowing us to use their softboards purchased by a Lotto sponsorship and assisting us towards getting into the water. Thanks to Bruce Anderson and his team in this regard.

Each grade has a mom responsible for coordinating lifts and signing the children in on the beach and keeping an eye on them before and after the lesson. They are Cathi Hopper, Grade 3 (0828014913); Michelle Young, grades 4 & 5 (0824444167), Sandy Catterson, grade 6 (0836307154) and Sonia McShane for Grade 7 (0829373466). Chip Snaddon and Sean van Geems helped me pushing the surfers into their waves.
